Student Check Out Limits: Students in kindergarten and first grade may check out one book at a time. Students in grades 2 through 5, two books. Students may check out only one book in a popular series at a time. All books are checked out to students for two weeks but may be renewed for an additional two weeks, provided no one else has requested that title.
Reference: Reference books are reserved for use in the media center only so they will always be accessible to students, teachers, and staff in the building. Reference materials will not be checked out to students.
Magazines: Magazines are available for reading while in the media center only. They will not be checked out to students.
Return Procedure: All materials are to be placed on the book return in the media center on, or before, the due date. Students are responsible for books they have checked out until they are deposited in the book return.
Overdue & Lost Books: No fines are charged for overdue books. An overdue notice is distributed regularly via e-mail to the parents and guardians of students.
Students are asked to pay for lost or damaged books. If a book has been lost, the student must pay the rate established by Gwinnett County Public School Media Services. Current rates are $15.00 for all hardcover books and $5.00 for all paperback books or magazines.
Payment for a lost book will be refunded if the book is returned in good condition on or before the last day of school.
